Description & Specifications
A 500-hundred-year-old craft of comb-making comes alive with a whimsical design play. Intricately crafted with distinct Mughal patterns in the town of Nagina, the ebony wood combs create a squinching visual of a mundane shape, into an abstract form. (Imagine tucking hair with a bobby pin!). A beautiful reminder of 'tucking', tucked in your living spaces, use it in your bedroom or clustered as eccentric wall decor. Made available to you in three variations Kona, Dooja & Ambi.
Ambi translates to mango. The name is Ambi refers to the shape of 'aam'.
Story: Nagina is a small town situated in Bijnor district of Uttar Pradesh, India, that also finds a mention in Ain-i-Akbari. Woodcarving in Nagina is passed on through generations. A lot of these are produced as male & female combs. Combs in Nagina mirror myriad shapes and sizes and charmingly revisit nondescript Nagina.
